Swāmī Sarvānanda Saraswatī

Swami Sarvananda Saraswati

Swāmī Sarvānanda Saraswatī is a contemporary teacher in the Arsha Vidyā tradition of Vedānta, grounded in the lineage established by Pūjya Swāmī Dayānanda Saraswatī. He carries forward the Advaita Vedānta teaching tradition with a strong emphasis on classical Sanskrit scholarship, scriptural inquiry, and the timeless wisdom of the Upaniads and Bhagavad Gītā.

Training in the Arsha Vidyā Tradition

Swāmī Sarvānanda’s formal study of Vedānta and Sanskrit began with a rigorous three-year course (2004–2007) at Arsha Vijnana Gurukulam, Nagpur, where he trained under the guidance of Swāminī Brahmaprakaśānandājī.

He subsequently received direct instruction from Pūjya Swāmī Dayānanda Saraswatī, one of the foremost teachers of classical Advaita Vedānta in the modern era. This deep immersion in traditional study enabled him to continue his advanced training at Ārsha Vidyā Gurukulam, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu (2007-14), where, alongside sustained study, he also participated in teaching as part of the gurukula tradition.

Teaching and Leadership

Swāmī Sarvānanda has conducted extensive residential and online programs. Notably, in 2015 he led a six-month residential Vedānta and Sanskrit course at the Swami Chidbhavananda Ashram in Theni, focusing on the Bhagavad Gītā with Śakara’s commentary, introductory Advaita texts, an overview of the Mahābhārata, and Sanskrit study. Details of the course can be found at - Inauguration of 6 month course & Completion of 6 month Vedanta & Sanskrit course.

He regularly offers online classes, satsangs, and immersive retreats on core Vedāntic texts including the Bhagavad Gītā, Upaniads, and Yoga Sūtra, and he guides students in deep scriptural study and self-inquiry. His teachings reflect both traditional scriptural exegesis and relevance to contemporary spiritual seekers.

Scholarship and Language

Swāmī Sarvānanda is well versed in Pāinian grammar, the foundational system of Sanskrit linguistics, and has taught Sanskrit extensively to support students’ direct engagement with classic texts in their original language.

Professional/Educational Background

Before entering full-time spiritual life, Swāmī Sarvānanda worked for many years in the information technology (IT) industry in India and the United States, bringing a worldly discipline and analytical precision to his study and teaching of Vedānta. He is a dual degree graduate from BITS, Pilani, Rajasthan.
